Nomination packages available for Office of Mayor or Councillor

Nomination packages are now available for eligible individuals who are interested in running for the office of Quesnel City Mayor or Councillor in the upcoming October 2018 Local Government Election.  To obtain a Nomination package, please visit Quesnel City Hall at 410 Kinchant Street or call at 250-992-2111.

Completed Nomination packages must be delivered to the Chief Election Officer, or Deputy Chief Election Officer, during the Nomination Period from 9 am, September 4 to 4 pm, September 14.

Eligible nominees must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be at least 18 years of age on general voting day (October 20)
  • Be a Canadian citizen
  • Have been a resident of British Columbia for six months immediately prior to filing nomination documents; and
  • Not be disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from being nominated for, being elected to or holding the office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.

The City is offering an information session for individuals who are thinking about running for office, or for members of the public that would like to learn more about the role of an elected official, on August 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Quesnel City Hall Council Chambers.
