The Cariboo Regional District is holding a referendum on Saturday, June 10, 2023 to ask residents for approval on a loan authorization bylaw. The bylaw, if passed, allows the CRD to borrow up to $35 million for pool upgrades at the Quesnel Arts and Recreation Centre.

Voting Requirements

Voters must meet certain qualifications in order to vote in the pool upgrade referendum.

  • You are a Canadian citizen who will be at least 18 years of age on June 10; and
  • Have lived in B.C. for at least 6 months as of June 10; and
  • Are a resident of the North Cariboo Parks and Recreation Service area; OR
  • Have personally owned property in the North Cariboo Parks and Recreation Service area for at least the last 30 days; and
  • Are not disqualified by law from voting. 

An online map of the North Cariboo Parks and Recreation Service area is available through the City of Quesnel’s and CRD’s websites, with an embedded search tool which you can use to type in your address and see if you live inside the boundaries. View the map of the taxation area.

In addition, for non-resident property electors, if more than one person is a registered owner of the property, only one of those individuals may, with the written consent of the majority of the owners, register as a non-resident property elector. IMPORTANT: To ensure that you will be able to vote, PLEASE CONTACT THE CHIEF OR DEPUTY CHIEF ELECTION OFFICER as there may be documentation requirements to be met prior to voting day.

Voting Dates and Locations

Voters are able to choose from multiple locations and dates that is most convenient to them to cast their single ballot. If you are unable to attend a voting opportunity, see if you qualify for a mail ballot.

If you are unable to vote at any of the advance, general or special voting opportunities during the election, you may be eligible to vote by a mail ballot.
