Spectators no longer permitted at indoor sporting facilities

October 16, 2020
News Release

As directed by the provincial Health Officer, indoor sports complexes will no longer be permitting spectators in indoor sports facilities, including the arenas.

Entrance to facilities will be limited to participants, instructors, coaches, and designated team ambassadors to ensure compliance with the directive of the Provincial Health Officer in consultation with the BC Recreation and Parks Association, viaSport, BC Hockey and the Recreation Facilities Association of B.C. who met on Thursday, October 15 and adopted a joint position restricting spectators from indoor recreation facilities effective immediately.

The City of Quesnel will work with minor sport groups to ensure parental supervision can be provided where appropriate for very young children.

The City will continue to follow the directives of the Provincial Health Officer to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), and will provide any updates as they become available.  Parents should contact the sporting organization or their team coach for specific information regarding the process for dropping off, picking up and supervision of youth during play.
