A reminder to all residents that a province-wide campfire ban is now in effect. This prohibition is in place to help prevent human-caused wildfires and to protect public safety.

The prohibited activities include:

  • Category 1 campfires and backyard fire pits
  • All Category 2 and 3 open fires: burning waste, slash or other materials
  • Fireworks and firecrackers
  • Sky Lanterns
  • Burn Barrels or Burn Cages of any size or description
  • Binary Exploding Targets
  • Tiki and similar kinds of torches

The ban doesn't apply to outdoor stoves that, as per the Wildfire Regulation, are CSA-rated or ULC-rated devices used for cooking, heat or ambiance that burns charcoal briquettes, liquid fuel or gaseous fuel and has a flame height that is less than 15 cm tall. The use of a campfire apparatus that does not meet these specifications is prohibited.
