New apportionment for Quesnel Timber Supply Area

Mayor Simpson joined Ravi Kahlon, Parliamentary Secretary for Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development and representatives from the Southern Dakelh Nation Alliance, and ?Esdilagh First Nation to announce a new apportionment for the Quesnel Timber Supply Area. This will support Indigenous collaboration, community involvement in local resource management, and forest sector diversification to enhance economic stability in the area.

The City along with the partners above have been invited to apply for a community forest licence of 77,000 cubic metres. Community forests give local control over the monetary and non-monetary benefits offered by the local forest.   

In addition, First Nations Woodlands licenses with a total annual volume of 162,500 cubic metres were also allocated.
