Public Works crews were out today and will be back on Monday, November 10, continuing ditching and shoulder grading in various areas throughout the community.
Ditching and shoulder grading are part of our regular road maintenance program. It’s important to note that roadside ditches and drainage infrastructure are designed to manage surface water related to the roadway. Their primary purpose is to protect the integrity of the road base and extend the lifespan of the road by preventing water from pooling or saturating the road base beneath the pavement, which can lead to surface damage. Ditches also provide snow storage, which allows our crews to conduct winter maintenance for our snow plowing operations.
As we move into the winter season, residents are reminded to inspect and maintain their access culverts. Please ensure your culverts are clear of debris and functioning properly, as this helps prevent localized flooding, icing, and road damage during freeze-thaw cycles.
We ask that you be patient with our crews if they are working in your area. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our roads safe.
