The City of Quesnel, in partnership with Community Futures North Cariboo, has opened a business support hotline. Working together as the Business Support Team with the Quesnel & District Chamber of Commerce, Cariboo Regional District, West Quesnel Business Association and Quesnel Downtown Association, the calls are answered Monday – Friday, 9 am – 4 pm. Callers will receive assistance in navigating the many COVID-19 support programs available to them, and can receive help with completing the applications, if needed.
When not receiving calls, staff from the Business Support Team are also calling out to businesses offering support, starting with those who have been mandated to close. The lines opened on April 8, with 44 incoming calls and 106 outgoing calls within the first 6 days.
“This is a very challenging time for the business community. While there are many supports available, navigating the programs can be overwhelming to business owners, on top of everything else they’re going through,” says Greg Lawrence, Community Futures General Manager. “The Business Support Team is here to help.”
“Our business community has been through a lot over the past few years,” says Quesnel Mayor, Bob Simpson. “We’ve made it our goal to maximize the support dollars coming into Quesnel from other levels of government to support our businesses.”
If you own a business or run a non-profit organization in the North Cariboo, and have any questions about the COVID-19 support programs available to you, you are encouraged to call 1-888-241-7714.
