Delegation - Osisko Development Corp. - Cariboo Gold Project

Chris Lodder, President, Francois Vezina, Senior Vice President of Projects and Kelsey Dodd, Engagement and Consultation Lead, attended to provide Council an update on the Cariboo Gold Project

This project is the first to go through the BC provincial government’s new Environmental Assessment process, to help identify and evaluate potential effects including environmental, economic, social, cultural and health implications.

Osisko is committed to the communities in and around the Cariboo Gold Project. To date, 27% of local goods and services have come from local suppliers, there will be approximately 460 jobs created, with 75% of the workforce to be obtained from the Cariboo Regional District and surrounding areas and, a Sustainable Workforce Initiative will provide skills training for these positions. The first College of New Caledonia Underground Miner Training Program will see its students graduate this Friday.

2022 Local Government Elections

Council were apprised of changes to the Local Government Act, regarding Mail Ballot Voting in the upcoming election.  This change was made to ensure a person’s ability to vote is not compromised, in the event of pandemic activity. The following Bylaws were updated to reflect this change:

  • City of Quesnel General Local Government Election Bylaw No. 1918 of 2022
  • City of Quesnel Mail Ballot Authorization and Procedure Bylaw No. 1919 0f 2022

Additionally, Council appointed Deputy Corporate Administrator Hartley as the Chief Election Officer for the 2022 Local Election and, the Deputy CEO will be appointed in due course.

NOTICE OF PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE "City of Quesnel Council Procedure Bylaw 1920 of 2022" will be posted on the City of Quesnel website and social media channels, in accordance with Community Charter s.94(4) and 124(3)

  • Bylaw 1918 - City of Quesnel General Local Government Election Bylaw - First, Second and Third Readings
  • Bylaw 1919 - City of Quesnel Mail Ballot Authorization and Procedure Bylaw - First, Second and Third Readings
