As part of our ongoing Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP), and if proper venting for air quality is favorable, controlled burning of piled forest debris will take place November 2-15 at Pinnacles Provincial Park. The burning will be away from the trails, but smoke could affect trail users. Please watch and obey any signage posted in the area while the burning is active.
The combination of thinning (spacing and pruning) and pile-burning that are taking place in Pinnacles Provincial Park are:
- Reducing the chance of a catastrophic wildfire destroying critical infrastructure (homes, communications towers, water towers etc.)
- Improving forest health and animal habitat
- Generating less smoke than out-of-control wildfires
- Protecting the recreation values
- Furthering our mission of managing the landscape and improving ecosystem health
Residents in the area may hear crews working with power saws and may experience smoke during pile burning.
