Community Wildfire Protection work on Wonderland Trails

Posted
News

As part of the City of Quesnel’s ongoing Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP), fuel management activities will take place on the Wonderland Trails throughout fall and winter. Work will include thinning (spacing and pruning), tree falling, and pile burning.
Burning will occur away from trails, but smoke may affect trail users.

Trails remain open, but please follow all posted signage.

These activities help to:

  • Reduce the risk of severe wildfires threatening homes and infrastructure
  • Improve forest health and wildlife habitat
  • Produce less smoke than uncontrolled wildfires
  • Protect recreation areas
  • Support long-term landscape and ecosystem health

Trail users may hear power saws or notice smoke during operations.
