A reminder to all residents that a campfire ban is now in effect. This prohibition is in place to help prevent human-caused wildfires and to protect public safety.
The prohibited activities include:
- Category 1 campfires and backyard fire pits
- All Category 2 and 3 open fires: burning waste, slash, or other materials
- Fireworks and firecrackers
- Sky Lanterns
- Burn Barrels or Burn Cages of any size or description
- Binary Exploding Targets
- Tiki and similar kinds of torches
- Chimineas
- Air Curtain Burners
The ban doesn't apply to outdoor stoves that, as per the Wildfire Regulation, are CSA-rated or ULC-rated devices used for cooking, heat, or ambiance that burn charcoal briquettes, liquid fuel, or gaseous fuel and have a flame height of less than 15 cm. The use of a campfire apparatus that does not meet these specifications is prohibited.
