Notice of nomination
Public notice is given to the electors of the City of Quesnel that nominations for the offices of one Mayor and six Councillors will be received by the Chief Election Officer, or a designated person, from 9:00 am Tuesday, August 30, 2022 to 4:00 pm Friday, September 9, 2022.
Nominations will be received in the following ways:
- Hand, mail, or other delivery service to the City of Quesnel, 410 Kinchant Street, Quesnel BC V2J 7J5. Attn: Chief Elections Officer.
- Email to rhartley@quesnel.ca
Originals of emailed nomination documents must be received by the Chief Election Officer, or a designated person by 4:00 pm Friday, September 16, 2022, or, the person nominated will be deemed to have been withdrawn as a candidate.
Nomination forms will be available as of August 17, 2022, from the Chief Election Officer, or a designated person, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday, at City Hall, 410 Kinchant Street.
Qualifications for Office
A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a member of local government if they meet the following criteria:
- Canadian Citizen;
- 18 Years of Age on or before Saturday, October 15, 2022 (General Voting Day);
- Resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed;
- Not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or from being nominated for, being elected to, or holding office.
Campaign Expense Limit
The Local Elections Campaign Financing Act stipulates the following 2022 campaign expense limits are $10,931.76 for Mayor and $5,465.88 for Councillor. Also, $809.84 for advertising limits apply for third party advertising.

City Hall Council Chambers at 410 Kinchant Street (4th Floor)
A second session may be held if warranted, please contact the Chief Election Officer to inquire.
This session will provide important information and documentation for those considering candidacy.
