The City of Quesnel lies within School District #28. SD28 operates 12 elementary schools, Quesnel Junior School, Correlieu Secondary School, McNaughton Centre (alternate high school), and a distance learning school.

Post secondary education is offered by the College of New Caledonia and University of Northern B.C., both located at the North Cariboo Community Campus.
Programs include: Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Arts, Master of Education, First Nations certificates and diplomas (UNBC); Millwright Level 1-4, Electrical, Carpentry, Welding, Power Engineering, Social Service Worker certificate and diploma, Education Assistant certificate, university transfer courses, and various other programs (CNC).
