Living wage employer

Effective November 1st, 2016, the City of Quesnel is a Living Wage Employer. The City has established a Living Wage Policy that requires the City to pay all employees (with some exceptions) a Living Wage as calculated by the Living Wage for Families Campaign.  It also requires that all firms that are contracted directly or subcontracted by the City to provide services on City premises for durations in excess of one continuous hour per occasion to pay their employees who perform the services a Living Wage.  The requirement covers external contracts that provide services for the City of Quesnel on a regular ongoing basis for at least 120 hours of labour per year.

The living wage figure for 2023 for the region is $21.19, assuming no benefits are provided by the employer.

The City will include in all its competitive bid documents a Declaration and a clause referencing the City’s expectations with regards to compliance of the Policy. Completion and submission of the Declaration before an award is required.
