QUESNEL, B.C. – Following the tragic death of a Quesnel resident, Mayor Nate Bello has asked for a special meeting of the Community Safety Committee to discuss the critical issue of violence in our community.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of a community member,” said Bello while in Victoria at the Union of British Columbia Municipalities annual convention. “This is an issue we must speak openly and honestly about to ensure the safety of our residents and businesses. We can’t stand idly by and refuse to take on some responsibility.”
Councillor Thapar, who chairs the committee, said discussions about violence are needed to educate and inform people about the unfortunate realities we are sometimes faced with.
“It does no good to stand and point fingers of blame,” he commented. “We all need to get involved to find ways to try and stem violence in our community.”
