QUESNEL, B.C. – Quesnel City Council has confirmed its $500,000 commitment that will support the Quesnel Technics Gymnastics Club’s quest for a new facility. The decision was made at the April 29 regular Quesnel City Council meeting.

Council formally approved the position it laid out at the April 21, 2008 North Cariboo Joint Planning Committee meeting, when the City offered to contribute land, services and cash to the value of $500,000 toward the construction of a new facility.

“Council is pleased to be able to honour the commitment we made to this outstanding community organization,” said Mayor Nate Bello. “We are dedicated to providing outstanding services to our residents. We believe in the youth in our community and are eager to help them develop healthy and active lifestyles.”

The Technics have been a frequent delegation to the NCJPC requesting support from the City and the Cariboo Regional District. Those two bodies had previously agreed to contribute $500,000 each toward the project.

The City’s funding commitment allows the gymnastics club to continue working towards their goal and to leverage funding from other sources.

The City is excited to confirm the commitment it has made to this valuable, community-minded organization, and looks forward to the future development of an outstanding facility.
