QUESNEL, B.C. – City Manager Charles Hamilton will resign from his position effective December 8 after more than nine years with the City of Quesnel. Hamilton has accepted an offer to become the Chief Administrative Officer with the Columbia Shuswap Regional District in Salmon Arm.

“This has been a challenging but satisfying time of my career,” said Hamilton. “I am proud to have worked with a conscientious and spirited Council and a tremendously dedicated staff. I leave with a great deal of regret, but am also looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead.”

Hamilton came to the City in December 1999 from the District of Tofino, where he was the Municipal Administrator. He will spend his remaining time here bringing various files up to date while helping with a number of transition issues. “I thank my management team and all City staff for their hard work and more particularly the support they provided me. I will miss them all.”

“Charles helped us through a number of difficult times, and throughout his tenure he was a true professional who dealt with issues proactively and efficiently,” said Mayor Nate Bello. “We are happy he has found a new professional challenge. We know he will succeed in his future endeavours and we wish him good luck.”

Hamilton earned his Masters in Public Administration from Queen’s University. He also holds his Senior Certificate in Municipal Administration and his Advanced Certificate in Local Government Management from the Provincial Board of Examiners.
