18 nominees meet deadline for municipal election

QUESNEL, B.C. – The City of Quesnel is pleased to release the list of nominees seeking to become candidates in the November 19 municipal election.

There are three nominees, Nate Bello, Dr. Quinton Finkelstein and Dalton Hooker, vying for the mayor’s position. There are 15 seeking to become councillors. They are, in alphabetical order, Cory Clark, Peter Couldwell, Ron Craigmyle, Maurice Cullinane, Gino De Rose, Stuart Garner, Rudy Jagusch, Paul Kainth, Kim McIvor, Coralee Oakes, Ron Paull, Dean Peters, Mary Sjostrom, Mike Staves and Sushil Thapar.

The official closing date for applications was 4 p.m. this afternoon. The public or other candidates now have until Tuesday, October 18 to file a challenge to any of the above names. Nominees have one week to decide if they would like to withdraw, before the list becomes final, next Friday, October 21, 2005 at 4 p.m.

The official declaration of an election will happen Monday, October 24 at 4 p.m. More details regarding the election process, scrutineers, campaign disclosure forms and regulations, voting place regulations, etc, will also be provided at that time.
