Scott Elliott

Councillor Scott Elliott

Why did you choose to run for Council?

This is my third term as a Councillor for the City of Quesnel. I am pleased with the positive and progressive direction the City has been taking and I’m particularly proud of my work with the Finance Committee in recent years and it is a big reason I needed to run again.

As a city in transition it was imperative to do the hard work to get us fiscally sound before moving forward on a lot of projects that our city needed and deserved.

What are your priorities or goals for the City of Quesnel?

I’m looking forward to working towards a bypass/interconnector that really will be a game changer for our community! Removing the dangerous goods, truck traffic, noise and air pollution from our downtown core is the number one issue with many in this community and I need to be a part of that process!

Further to that would be accessing our riverfronts after Front St is no longer a highway! We are at a critical time and choices we as a city make in the next 4+ years can change us significantly!

I’m excited to be appointed Chair of the  Policy and Bylaw Committee. I believe a “Maintenance Bylaw” is needed in Quesnel as everyone deserves to live in a clean and safe home.

Everyone deserves to live in a home and being appointed Chair of the Housing Committee will help me work towards that! We desperately need to enable secondary suites in this city to increase the amount of homes available to individuals!

What community groups are you currently a member of?

I am currently the Vice President of Island Mountain Arts. This group works hard to bring arts and culture of my different type to our area and the Province as a whole.

What makes you proud to live in Quesnel?

This is the first place I have lived with such a vast history. The overwhelming sense of community and volunteerism in Quesnel is partially attributable to that history.

What's your favourite place to experience nature in Quesnel?

Dragon Lake is one of the best lakes I’ve fished and to have it in this City is exceptional! As a previous guide, fly fishing is a passion and Dragon Lake is the one place you will find me on my very few days off!
