Skatepark Redesign

In the City’s 2015 Parks, Green Spaces and Outdoor Recreation Master Plan, it was recommended that the City assess Baker Creek Skateboard Park for safety and undertake upgrades to ensure a broad range of ages and abilities are served.

In 2017, this project was included in Council’s Strategic Plan and Council budgeted to do planning work on Baker Creek Park with the skateboard park review being considered one of the first steps to be taken.

In February, a group of youth from the Skateboard Park presented to Council funds they had raised ($4,431.42) towards the design of an updated Skateboard Park. Council committed to supplying the rest of the funds required to complete the footprint/planning work and the project is now proceeding with the first step being a public design workshop with New Line Skateparks Inc, the company hired to do the design work on this project and the build once funds for construction are obtained.  The City will be looking for grants to fund this project.
