In partnership with the Cariboo Regional District, the City of Quesnel is taking the lead on developing an inventory and action plan for child care services in the North Cariboo.
We have engaged SPARC BC, working with New Focus Society, to complete the research and develop the plan. This project will include an inventory of existing child care spaces, assess the need and set targets for additional spaces, and define an action plan to reach those targets as a community over the next decade.
This project is funded by the Province of British Columbia.
We're conducting two surveys to better understand the current and anticipated child care service needs from residents of the region. The information you provide is critical in assisting the City in childcare planning and policy development. If you would like to participate, as either a parent/guardian or owner/staff member of a child care program, please take the appropriate survey.
Paper copies of both surveys are available at City Hall, 410 Kinchant St.
The workshops will help to develop a proposed list of child care targets and strategies with input from community members with an interest in child care development. Parents, guardians, informal child care providers, and other community stakeholders are welcome to attend.
The kitchen table conversations will focus on 3 - 4 local child care centres to develop a proposed list of child care targets and strategies from the perspective of front line workers.
