Notice of Cancellation

The QUESNEL LION’S HOUSING SOCIETY DEVELOPMENT Pubic Hearing to be held on June 28 at 7 p.m. has been CANCELLED due to substantial changes to the proposal being planned by the proponent. The public will be notified of the next steps of the amended proposal (when available) at a future Council meeting and any new public hearing will advertised in the Cariboo Observer. Any questions can be directed to the City Planner at (250) 992-2111.

BC Transit Survey

Have your say and take the survey!

BC Transit is undertaking a service review update, to help determine the route transit should take in the future. If you ride transit watch for representatives from BC Transit and Quesnel Transit will be on the buses, talking with customers and filling out surveys. The survey asks how, where and why people take the bus, and provides space where people can offer their own comments and suggestions. The online survey will be available until July 4.

Baker Drive Construction Notice

Please be advised the City of Quesnel Public Works crews will be making improvements to Baker Drive from Hill St. to English Ave. including a portion of English, Harper and Harcourt.

This will include:
• Installation of storm drain lines and catch basins
• Replacement of existing sidewalk with new concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalk
• Installation of new road base and repaving

This work will commence June 8 and be completed in September. Traffic re-routing and minor delays are to be expected. If you have any questions regarding this construction notice, please contact Public Works at 250-992-6330.

West Quesnel Land Stability Phase II Program

This program includes installation of dewatering wells and horizontal drains, storm sewer upgrades as well as road and sidewalk reconstruction. There WILL be MAJOR disruptions to traffic and residents. Please be patient, drive safely and leave early for work and appointments.

Downtown Residential Possibilities Program

Recognizing the demand for more housing in the downtown core, this program allows property owners to explore the possibility of adding or converting a second or third storey to their building for residential purposes.  Property owners will receive a 50% rebate to cover the costs of a structural engineer’s assessment of their building(s).  Review the guidelines to see if your property will apply.

Attention Business/Non-Profit Organizations! Apply for a Façade Grant Today!

The 2015 Business Façade Improvement Program has been a success! Façade improvement projects in Development Permit Areas of the City (see map below) may be eligible for 50% reimbursement of the project cost, up to a maximum of $5,000 per project. The deadline to have projects completed is December 1, 2016. Façade applications should be submitted a few months prior to this deadline as the application will require review and may require permits for building and/or development. Any projects completed after the deadline will not be eligible for the grant. To apply, please complete the application form below and contact the City Planner, Urszula Walus at uwalus@quesnel.ca or call 250-992-2111 to discuss your project.
